Brownsville Port of Entry CBP Officers Seize Over $200K in Methamphetamine

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged narcotics, valued at approximately $262,000, hidden within a gray 2009 Nissan Maxima.

“This seizure was possible because of the outstanding work of our CBP officers and their unwavering dedication in upholding the CBP mission,” said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry.

The seizure took place on Tuesday, June 26, at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge when a 35-year-old female United States citizen applied for entry into the United States driving a gray 2009 Nissan Maxima. The vehicle was referred to CBP secondary for further examination. Upon inspection of the vehicle, and with the use of non-intrusive imaging technology (NII), CBP officers discovered and removed 10 packages of alleged methamphetamine with a total weight of 13 pounds.

The estimated street value of the narcotics from the seizure is approximately $262,000.

CBP officers seized the narcotics along with the vehicle, arrested the driver and turned her over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents for further investigation.
